What are Dermal Fillers?

Most fillers are non-permanent and last an average of 4-12 months, depending on the formula.

Dermal fillers are biocompatible injectable substances that can temporarily restore lost volume, give eyebrows a lift, plump lips, reduce the appearance of dark circles, smooth smile lines and provide an overall rested and rejuvenated appearance without surgery.

A multitude of fillers are available on the market, but we are selective in the products we use and only offer high-quality, FDA-approved fillers at our beautiful Miami, FL, plastic surgery center. There are three types of fillers: semi-permanent, non-permanent and permanent. Most fillers are non-permanent and last an average of 4-12 months, depending on the formula.

Dr. Bared typically recommends hyaluronic acid fillers like Restylane and Juvéderm as they are very effective, safe, and look extremely natural. Hyaluronic acid is a substance that occurs naturally in the body and attracts water for natural volume and youthfulness. Dr. Bared is an expert injector who strategically injects small amounts of dermal filler to restore youthful fullness.

Dr Bared was very meticulous and detailed. He was approachable, understood my needs, set realistic expectations in a kind way and overdelivered on the results. He is true artist. The care from the staff was excellent. Wait time was minimal, they were always ready for me. Their guidance before and after the procedure was thorough and compassionate. Always available for questions.

Injectables and Facial Filler Before and After Photos

Each patient is unique and individual results may vary*.

Preparing for Injectable Fillers

You will receive pre-treatment instructions at your consultation to help ensure your safety and results. One week before the filler treatment, avoid using anti-inflammatory medications or herbal supplements like Motrin, Advil, Aleve, Ibuprofen, fish oil, and Gingko to decrease the risk of bruising or bleeding.

The Injectable Filler Procedure

Expert injector Dr. Bared performs injectable filler treatments at our beautiful facility in Miami, FL. Many facial fillers, including Juvederm XC formulas, Restylane Lyft, and most hyaluronic acid fillers include lidocaine, a local anesthetic, to make the treatment more comfortable. Topical cream may also be used to numb the skin.

Dr. Bared then injects the filler using tiny needles. An ice pack is placed on the area briefly to diminish potential swelling and irritation. Zero downtime is required and the treatment is only minutes long. Most patients can return to work immediately.

Possible Dermal Filler Side Effects or Risks

Side effects from dermal filler injections may include minor bruising, discoloration and temporary bumps at the injection site. More serious risks are rare but may include allergic reactions, infection, numbness and scarring.

Dr. Bared will discuss the possible side effects and risks during your private consultation. Dermal fillers are a popular cosmetic treatment, and our patients from Miami, Fort Lauderdale, and other areas of South Florida enjoy outstanding results with minimal side effects.

Recovering from Facial Fillers

Minor skin irritation and redness sometimes occur after the minimally-invasive treatment. Most Facial Plastic Surgery Miami patients immediately resume their regular schedule and low-level activities. Patients should, however, avoid excess exercise that day.

Frequently Asked Questions About Dermal Fillers

How many filler treatments will I need?

Hyaluronic acid fillers like Juvederm and Restylane can last for 6 to 12 months or longer depending on the type of fillers used and the injection site. Multiple injections may be needed during one treatment session to accomplish your goals. More injections are typically required after 9 to 12 months to maintain the results of the treatment.

Are fillers safe?

All dermal fillers that Dr. Bared uses are FDA-approved and are safe for most individuals. Dr. Bared will review your medical history to assess any increased risk for an allergic reaction or other adverse side effects before scheduling your first treatment.

How do fillers work?

Hyaluronic acid is a naturally-occurring sugar found in the body. Dermal fillers made with this substance attract water and plump the area around the injection site, rejuvenating the face for months at a time. Other types of fillers, like those made with poly-l-lactic acid, are used to help fill in wrinkles and encourage collagen production.

When can I resume my normal activities?

Most Fort Lauderdale and Miami patients resume their normal activities immediately after their treatment. Sometimes minor redness or skin irritation may hinder social events that day. Avoid vigorous exercise for 24 hours.

Can I combine fillers with another treatment or procedure?

Botox is an injectable treatment that blocks communication between the nerve and muscle to smooth specific types of wrinkles. Botox injections treat overused muscles that create deep lines in the area between the eyes, above the eyebrows and more.

Dr. Bared may recommend Botox and fillers to create a younger appearance without surgery or downtime. Fillers can also be used in combination with a cosmetic facial procedure like a forehead lift to achieve beautiful results.

Will my health insurance cover fillers?

Medical insurance will not cover your filler injections; however, filler treatments are quite affordable at our Miami, FL, facility.

When will I see the effects of my filler treatment?

Hyaluronic acid fillers provide noticeable results immediately after the treatment. The final results are visible one to two weeks after treatment, when any initial swelling or bruising has subsided.

How long will the results last?

Dr. Bared will discuss your expected treatment results during your consultation. Fillers may last longer in certain areas. For example, Restylane filler may last up to 12 months in the cheeks, six months in facial wrinkles or folds and six months in the lips. Juvederm injections may provide results for up to 18 months in some areas. Consistent and timely follow-up treatments will provide ongoing benefits without interruption.

Why should I choose dermal fillers?

Facial fillers may provide you with cosmetic improvements, erase wrinkles, add volume to your face, pump your lips, camouflage acne scars, and enhance facial features to improve your appearance. Dr. Bared specializes in providing FDA-approved, long-lasting treatments for patients in the Fort Lauderdale and Miami, FL, area.
