Your eyebrows constitute a very prominent and important feature of your face. They are a key aspect of expressing your emotions. Thin eyebrows can make your face lose its natural definition and make your look older for your age.
Unless they are experiencing it for themselves, many people do not believe that eyebrow thinning can be a real cosmetic concern. But the truth is that, just like the hair on your scalp, your eyebrows can thin out due to factors like aging, a hormonal imbalance, an overactive immune system, physical trauma, emotional stress, and poor nutrition.
Full and nicely shaped eyebrows can provide definition to your face and make you look young, fresh, and radiant. If you notice that your eyebrows have become sparser over the years, you might want to consider eyebrow restoration.
We offer eyebrow restoration with the help of the strip method of hair transplantation. The aforementioned technique is called the Follicular Unit Strip method, or FUS in the medical industry.
What Is FUS?
The Follicular Unit Strip method is a type of hair transplantation that is widely used by doctors around the world for the purpose of reversing the signs of thinning eyebrows. It has been found to be one of the most popular and proven methods for treating the problem of thinning eyebrows.
Since eyebrows are located in a small area and are linear, traditional methods of hair transplantation do not prove to be as feasible as the Follicular Unit Strip method. The procedure involves extracting the required number of follicular units from the donor strip and transplanting them in the gaps between the existing hair of your eyebrows.
How Is the FUS Procedure Performed?
In the FUS procedure, Dr. Bared will start by creating the desired outline for your thinning eyebrows with the help of a surgical marker. He will do this by maintaining a normal anatomical position and the symmetry of the eyebrows as discussed with the patient during the consultation leading up to the operation.
Next, the patient will be administered with a local anesthetic that will numb the area to be operated. Dr. Bared will begin the surgery by making tiny incisions in the donor site at the back or side of the scalp.
The Follicular Unit Strip method differs from the traditional hair-transplantation technique in that in the former procedure, the grafts are obtained by removing an entire strip of the skin from the donor site.
The follicular unit grafts are harvested from the skin strip with the help of a technique called stereomicroscopic dissection. The incisions on the donor site are sutured closed and left to heal.
